How to Find a Midwife in Texas

To help you find a Licensed Midwife in your area, we’ve compiled the following list for you! Once you’ve found several midwives in your vicinity, we encourage scheduling a consultation with each of them to discuss your personal health history, answer any questions and determine if it’s the right fit for your pregnancy journey!

TIPS

  • Midwives licensed with the State of Texas (including CPMs, but not including CNMs) are listed here. Once you know a local midwife’s name, you can more easily find them.

  • CNMs can voluntarily add their practices to the ACNM website, which has a search function. At the time of writing this, the feature was not working, but you can check here to see if it’s been fixed!

  • Birth centers are licensed by the Department of State Health Services. You can find names of Texas birth centers by searching here, and can then use Google to find more information on them.

  • Google, “midwife + (your city)” or “homebirth/birth center + (your city)”

  • Reach out to local moms’ groups and friends who may have used midwives, to hear their recommendations!
