ATM Board Meetings
Open Meetings
All ATM Members are welcome to attend the Open Meetings, which are normally held quarterly. Non-members may attend by invitation only. Only those who are members of the Board of Directors may participate directly during the main part of these meetings, unless invited to do so by the presiding officer (normally the Board President). However, if you are an ATM Member, you are encouraged to communicate with your Regional Representative so that your opinions and needs may be represented at the Open Meetings, and limited time is given at each meeting for comments from the general Membership who are in attendance. Minutes are taken at these meetings and are shared publicly once the Board has approved them for accuracy and completeness.
Working Meetings
The Board of Directors holds Working Meetings between the Open Meetings on an as-needed basis (generally at least once a month, sometimes more than once in a week). These meetings are generally not open to the Membership, unless an individual is invited by the presiding officer (normally the Board President). Minutes are taken at these meetings and appended to the minutes for the Open Meetings, and are shared publicly once the Board has approved them for accuracy and completeness.
Calling a Meeting or adding to an Agenda
If you would like the Board to discuss something before the next scheduled Open Meeting, there are various options:
You can contact the Board President at president@texasmidwives.com
If the President feels it is appropriate, they can unilaterally call a Special Meeting (an Open Meeting held between the regularly scheduled quarterly meetings).
The President may take the issue to the Board immediately, to discuss it electronically, and/or they may discuss it at the next Working Meeting.
You can contact your Regional Representative (found here), who will raise the issue with the Board in a timely fashion.
The Board can call a Special Meeting, if they feel this is appropriate.
The Board can discuss the issue electronically and/or at the next Working Meeting
You can form a petition with 1/3 of the Membership to call a Special Meeting. This petition should be sent to the Board President at president@texasmidwives.com
