ATM's Protocol Guide: Book & CD

New rules effective April 24, 2003 have established an additional requirement for
all licensed midwives practicing midwifery in Texas. In addition to complying with
the Texas Midwifery Act and the rules of the Texas Midwifery Board, each midwife must
develop, update and adhere to specific practice protocols relating to the provision
of midwifery care.

The rules require that these protocols be based on approved texts or references from
midwifery educational programs which have been approved by the Texas Midwifery Board
such as the ATM Midwifery Training Program.
A midwife's Guide to Protocols is an excellent guide for writing your
own personal protocols. The book is referenced with sources approved by the ATM Midwifery
Training Program. Extra pages are provided in the hard copy of the guide, so that
you may add additional references or protocols of your own. The CD version is done
in Microsoft Word and is protected so that all additions or changes to the original
text will be tracked. This will enable you to always know what changes you have made
to personalize your guide. (All changes will show up in a different color.)
It is important for each midwife to remember that this book is only meant to be a
guide and not intended to be used "as is". While the guide
