Congratulations!! You are about to experience the birth of your baby! Thank you for contacting Family-Centered Midwifery Services. I feel it an honor and a privilege to serve women and their families during the childbearing time. I will work with each woman and her family promoting their unique physical, social, and emotional needs. I encourage participation by family members and will provide continuous support during labor and birth. I truly trust the birth process and hope to affirm each woman's ability to birth in her own way. I feel it is important not to try and replace the birth partner but to compliment them and offer support and comfort as needed.
As your midwife, I will offer prenatal care, education and counseling, labor support, birth and postpartum care, examination of the newborn, breastfeeding support, counseling in early parenting, and well woman care. Prenatal care is done at my office in south Austin or Blanco. Each prenatal lasts about an hour and much of that time is spent answering questions you may have. Pregnancy is a wonderful time to learn more about your body and nutrition. I have many books and videos about pregnancy and birth to lend to you.
I have been serving women in birth since 1997.I became a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) through the National Association of Registered Midwives and I am Licensed in the State of Texas to practice midwifery since 2000. Before I became a midwife, I worked in Family Practice and Pediatrics as a nurse (LVN) from 1985-1999. My practice covers the Austin area, including San Marcos, Drippings Springs, and Hill Country .I strongly feel birth at home is safest with two well trained midwives. I have a wonderful working relationship with several experienced midwives throughout the Central Texas area. I will hire one of them to attend your birth with me.
